In ewe lambs tracked across the peripubertal period, plasma kisspeptin-10 and neurokinin B concentrations rose with age while dynorphin A declined; the onset of ovarian activity coincided with concurrent increases in kisspeptin-10 and neurokinin B alongside reduced dynorphin A.
In an in-vitro study of cultured anterior pituitary cells from pubescent ewes, neurokinin B was reported to increase kisspeptin-10 secretion in a dose- and time-dependent manner, whereas dynorphin A had no significant effect on its release.
